Herdwick sheep are Lakelands’ native sheep breed, they eat a natural diet of fell grasses and heather. ‘Mutton’ is sheep meat over 2 years old, this worthy meat is truly superb when reared on a grass diet, the carcass is dry aged on the bone to mature and tenderise. The meat is rich and deep in flavour.
Heritage Meats Herdwick Mutton is dry aged for 21 days to enhance the texture and flavour. At times of high demand we may need you to ask to wait for your mutton order (upto 3 weeks waiting time so that there is time to hang the meat).
