Water Crackers

Supplied by: The Courtyard Dairy | Delivery Details
A neutral water cracker, made in Yorkshire, that is deliciously crisp and toasty. A perfect accompaniment to any cheese.
Made in Yorkshire.
Because they don’t contain any leavening agent like yeast or baking powder, water crackers are notoriously hard to make; they are difficult to bake and need flame grilling. Hence very few biscuit companies make them. It is this lack of ingredients that made them long lasting and ideal for sea voyages – hence their nickname “ships biscuit”.
Produced just outside Leeds, these crackers are still made to traditional methods that include flame grilling and using only the finest Yorkshire water.
These now come in a round shape rather than rectangular and are labelled ‘Yorkshire Crackers’.
