Ian and Emma believe the adage ‘you are what you eat’ applies as much to their animals as it does to humans. It is fair to say, that the Gazegill farm animals truly get the best food that nature intended.
If you are looking for some of the tastiest, organic meats around, then look no further than Ian’s and Emma’s Gazegill Organic Farm set in the beautiful Ribble valley of Lancashire.
When the Real Food Hub first set out on its mission to create a network of food and drink producers, Gazegill was the first port of call, largely because of their dedication to organic farming methods and environmental ethos.
Gazegill has been farmed by the Robinson Family for nearly 500 years (although the farm itself is mentioned as far back as the Doomsday book), and both Ian and Emma are very proud of their families ancestral past, which has a strong influence on how they farm today.
Gazegill’s ancient meadows contain over fifty species of wild flowers, herbs and plants, and in some areas orchids and other gems can be found.
Their ethos is that every plant species has a food chain that stems from it, and this in turn is what builds a rich, diverse and healthy ecosystem on which their farm animals grow and thrive.
They believe, that the adage ‘you are what you eat’ equally applies to their animals as it does to humans, and it is fair to say that the Gazegill Organic farm animals truly get the best food that nature can provide.
Their animals are traditional English breeds such as their Oxford Sandy Pig, Hampshire Downs Sheep, and Shorthorn Cattle. Due to their rich and natural diets, all the meats are packed with Omega 3, giving them a strong unique flavour, for which they have received top industry awards.
Whilst you can buy Gazegill produce on their website, the farm is also host to a wonderful shop that sells all their great tasting meats and dairy products.
A trip to their farm is not just about their farm shop however, they will always provide a warm welcome to any visitor who wishes to see the whole farm and spend time experiencing first-hand how a truly organic farm operates.
