Converging tidal currents from the warm gulf stream and the much colder Arctic stream, flush out impurities, and create an area of clean, clear water where seafood thrives.
Graham Flannigan, together with his wife Catherine and daughter Emma, supply high-quality seafood from the clean waters of the Berwickshire coast. Graham’s son Darren is a fisherman supplying much of the prime, lobster, crab, langoustines, Lindisfarne Oysters and periwinkles, all caught within a 50 mile coastline of Berwick.
The Flanningan’s flagship product is Native European Lobster which is of such outstanding quality because the Berwickshire Coastal waters are famous for their interesting seascape and rich biodiversity. Converging tidal currents from the warm gulf stream and the much colder Arctic stream flush out impurities and create an area of clean, clear water where seafood thrives. The area also attracts many scuba divers who report amazing visibility here.
It is because the shellfish are feeding in a natural and pure environment that the resulting seafood produced tastes wonderfully natural and pure. Furthermore, cooked seafood, produced in their state of the art cooking facility, has no preservatives or salt.
The Berwick Shellfish Company is a real family affair and has been in business for over 45 years. It Started from scratch by Graham’s parents George and Phyllis in 1969 when George, a travelling salesman, stayed in many hotels that could not source quality seafood. An adventurous and hardworking man, he took the plunge into fishmongery and soon established a large customer network to supply fine Berwickshire lobster, crab, langoustines and wild salmon.
Graham and his family are taking the business from strength to strength, selling large volumes of native Lobster to France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Holland and Belgium, indicating the fantastic quality of their catch.
